Apply Powell's 13 in 2022

I’ve been a Colin Powell fan since Desert Storm. With his recent passing, I reviewed his “13 Rules” and realized how well they apply to business credit management.

It ain’t as bad as you think. It will look better in the morning.

Working in credit is stressful! We don’t have the luxury of sleeping on it, but we can walk away, even for a few minutes. When we separate ourselves from emotions, we make better credit decisions.

Get mad, then get over it.

We don’t have control over most things on the job. When we feel angry we should acknowledge it. Then let go of it and move on.

ICEL Chair: Time For Some R & R

As the year is winding down and coming to a close, I have been doing a lot of pondering about what I would like to have happen in 2022. I have never really been a fan of New Year’s resolutions, as I seem to get easily sidetracked and change paths or take many detours along the way and then feel bad about myself for not accomplishing them. What I am a fan of is a bit of R&R time - Review and Refresh.

During this time, I first take time to review the last year and ask myself a few questions.

The Power of "Want"

ICEL Recap: A Season of Giving

Once again, ICEL didn’t let a little thing like a world-wide pandemic cancel their traditional Holiday get-together this year; we just did it a little differently (much like everything else in 2020 and 2021!)

We were honored to hear from Ginette Bott, President of Utah Food Bank, who spoke about how vital the Food Bank is in our community, the logistics of how the operation works, and her own personal story involving Utah Food Bank. ICEL set a fund-raising goal of $750.00, and WOW did we exceed that goal – we were able to reach $3,350.00 in donations which Utah Food Bank is able to turn into $29,178.50 with their incredible buying power. There were many eyes wiped after hearing the impact that we made.
