Ethics Mistakes Credit Managers Can Make and How to Fix Them

SPEAKER:

Ashley Garbe Smith, Attorney at Law

We will be discussing the NACM ethics and standards and how a credit professional might be violating the standards - such as a customer’s or debtor’s right to privacy regarding certain personal and confidential information and what can or cannot be disclosed to third parties, including to other credit managers. We’ll also discuss some negotiation tips to help credit professionals negotiate effectively while maintaining ethics and standards.

Ashley Garbe Smith is an attorney licensed and practicing in Utah. Ashley’s practice focuses on business and corporate law, contracts, estate and asset protection, and litigation.

Before becoming an attorney, Ashley was a touring musician for over 10 years.

Ashley has had an affinity for NACM for many years because her own mother, Alisia Griffith, is a former NACM member. When Ashley isn’t practicing law, you might find her on a stage speaking or playing an occasional gig or enjoying the outdoors with her husband and two energetic boys.
